Silvia Nakkach

Silvia Nakkach is an award winning composer, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, author, and psychologist. She graduated from the National Conservatory of Buenos Aires, Argentina in piano and voice performance. She holds Masters Degrees in Music Therapy and Psychology from the National University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and in Music Composition from Mills College, Oakland, California. She has earned credentials in Psychodrama and Gestalt Therapy. Since 1982 she has studied raga singing and North Indian classical music with Maestro Ali Akbar Khan.


Music Therapist and Psychologist:

An internationally accredited specialist in cross-cultural music-therapy training, she has been involved in clinical research in the areas of singing and creative uses of the voice in music therapy for twenty five years. She has contributed with an extensive body of therapeutic vocal techniques which have become landmarks in the field of sound healing and music therapy training in Argentina, Brazil, Spain and lately in the USA.

Vox Mundi Project:

She is the founding director of Vox Mundi, an organization devoted to the education, preservation, and performance of multi-ethnic vocal arts. Since 1988 her pioneering work has been integrated in an innovative curriculum of scientific vocal principles and applications through the Vox Mundi Project programs. In collaboration with an increasing number of trained professionals, Nakkach continues to meet an international demand for seminars and clinical work. Her recent work includes offering Vox Mundi training programs and post-graduate seminars at the following institutions:

Composer and Recording Artist:

Formerly, she was a Professor of Voice and Transpersonal Music Therapy, at the Music Therapy Institute of Vitoria, Spain. As a singer and composer she has received many awards and commissions world wide. Her major work, the opera Amazonia Insight has been performed in many countries. She has released seven tape albums and six CD's. Her CD Ah, The Healing Voice, is widely played in health care centers to create a healing atmosphere before and after surgical interventions.

She is the co-author of various books, including Music and the Human Process, Music in Human Adaptation, and The Transpersonal Consciousness. She resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.
